My 2001 996 Carrera 2 3.6L’s “check“ warning light has come one.

Fault codes are P013600, P014000, does anyone know what the codes mean?

All relate to O2 Sensor ..not Teckie but just Googled codes .
Best ask a Porsche Specialist to confirm

I don't have specific 996 docs but the following is from a Porsche doc for a cayenne - but the meaning of these codes is usually transferable I have found

P013600
P013600 Bank 1 sensor 2 electr. fault in circuit

Fault finding notes
Open circuit
Short circuit to B+
Short circuit to ground
Loose contact or corrosion on connectors or lines
Oxygen sensor downstream of cat. conv., bank 1 sensor 2 faulty
Check exhaust system for leaks if necessary
Check injectors (for leaks)

P014000
P014000 Bank 1 sensor 2 no activity
Fault finding notes
Open circuit
Short circuit to B+
Short circuit to ground
Loose contact or corrosion on connectors or lines
Oxygen sensor behind cat. conv., bank 1 sensor 2 faulty

So both codes seem to point to an electrical problem bank1 sensor2 - internet guesswork at it's best - but I will go with corroded / loose connector or some wiring damage ( possibly rodents - read about a few incidents of that lately) to that sensor

From memory bank 1 on a 996 is UK drivers side - sensor 2 is the one after the cat - but check my homework.

Just to add that I think you’ll find that bank 1 on the 996 is on the UK passenger’s side … because the engine’s the wrong way round!

Yup. Think you are correct. Don’t have a picture to hand. According to this is “to the left when looking at the belt”
