924 Turbo - wheel and tyre options?

Gentlefolk,

No shortage of information on this for 944s, but what wheel/tyre width/offset options are there on a 924 Turbo? I know the original choice of wheel was limited, correct me if I am wrong, to just the cross spoke and Fuch wheels if I am not mistaken? Primarily looking to see if a little used car might share tyres with something that might wear them out a bit quicker, and allow them to be replaced regularly.

Many thanks,

Tref.

Hi Tref

I believe I am right in saying 928 style Forged 16'' flat wheels were an option on the 924 Turbo, Fuchs wheels were only fitted to the 924 CGT/GTS.

I have 195/65 15's on turbo cross spokes on the red 924S but have also used 195/60s slightly lower profile

Don't know the offsets, but FYI the handbook says:

6J x 15 with 185/70 VR 15 tyres
6J x 16 with 205/55 VR 16 tyres

Yes, 16 inch flat faced (a la 928) were a rare option (Derek Bell had some on his new white 924 Turbo - back in the day), and Fuchs can fit too (given the right offset, I presume).

Quite often, VW wheels have a cross-over, otherwise?... just a thought - I'm definitely no expert[:)]
i.e. some Golfs/Passats use 195/65 and 205/55... a long shot if they used similar offset wheels?

MMMM I had Le Mans wheels on the N/A 2.0 which were shod with 205/60 x 15 and the steering was heavier than I would have liked
