944 2.5 restoration project.

Not to bad, the nuts(oh er missus) need a good soaking to free up I had to cut mine with a disc cutter after draining the fuel overnight.
Pump is located under the rear drivers side right by the fuel tank just down from the fuel filter which is tucked up by the tank.
Wiring to my pump was shot on the connecters so re crimped with new easy enough though.

Yea i looked at mine earlier and is working ok but the brackets are very rusty and connectors dont look to good either!

i will get round to replacing them!

cheers and good look with the rest of it!

Ok fitted a new coil today checked the readings and they are exactly the same as the one I took off on the secondary side so now have a spare coil. Checked the dme relay and she is just fine readings are spot on.
Still though she refuses to fire, turns over but doesn't catch. Checked the fuel to the rail by undoing the 16mm end nut and fuel is coming out same as the other nuts at the regulators. Got spark although not as fast and big as I expected but she is there all the same. One thing I have noticed is the sound of the fuel going into the fuel rail sounds pretty loud is that normal? Fuel pump is ok aswell, so far have fitted new fuel filter and air filter, spark plugs and dizzy cap, oil filter and new oil, drained fuel completely and refilled with 97 ron. New ht leads which have been checked to make sure there run right. Car has run but that was off a tow start and after that she started ok but the next day she wouldn't start again.

What kind of noise are you hearing from the fuel rail?

When mine had been ignored for about a month and it refused to start all I could hear was the ticking from the injectors which had become stuck and after quite a while the engine would fire up.

It's like the air fuel mixture under lots of pressure hissing away after reading the guide on Clarks-Garage the symptoms are just like what I have, but after disconnecting the no:1 she still didn't fire.
Thinking about it when I cranked the fuel rail nut loose there wasn't as much pressure as I thought there would be no where near 3bar anyhow, so I wonder if the FPR is duff and not enough pressure is getting to the injectors?
Time for a leak down test me thinks.

Quick update door interiors are back on and looking good after a clean up.
Finished wiring up the passenger side window had to use a drivers side loom so only the switch on the door works the drivers side passenger switch won't work until I manage to source a loom.
Got the spacers coming now $204 for 4 1.5inch spacers delivered great result looking forward to getting them fitted with the new alloys and tyres.
While i've been waiting for the fuel rail to turn up i've been trying to sort the headlights took them apart and gave the covers a clean and spray up>

Found out the headlights are catching on the water bottle so the previous owner disconnected the motor. The bottle has been fixed in properly now but still catches so suspect the car has had a minor shunt on that side and things aren't quite straight. Nothing a bit of fettling won't sort. Got a new pivot kit on route from the USA as well so will do that or put it on my to do list which is getting bigger everyday.

Glad to see you managed to everything apart.

I need to do a similar thing to mine at some point as I want to change the bushes and rebuild the calipers.

Yep MadRob6 it took a while and had to cut a couple of nuts off but got myself a new impact gun toy sorry tool.
Need some new nuts and bolts anyone suggest a good place?

Got a few issues to sort but a least shes rolling now. Looks like i've got an immobiliser problem after i turned her off couldn't get the thing to start or the immobiliser to deactivate. Turned the key all the way around and all the lights but no starting motor.
Edited now with youtube links

With regards to your immobiliser problem I had something similar. After reading the manual for the aftermarket Thatcham cat 1 system it told me that you had 10 seconds to start the car after unlocking it. Explained why it wouldn't restart after I turned the engine off, have to press the fob to lock and unlock the doors again.

Thanks 944 man all done now but worth noting cheers. Eldavo I don't have the central locking on mine just the key jobbie will look in the morning.

Well today is a bit of a special day the car has a nice new 12 month mot ticket.
Got the starting issue sorted turned out to be a dodgy immobiliser which the auto electrics found and fixed in under an hour.
Still got a fair bit of work to do, but it's mainly comfort items>
No power to pass window.(did have but now its stopped)
No power to sunroof.(same thing did work)
No stereo.
Front light trim and lower front bib need respraying.

Missed out on most of this but looking at the pics you've done some sterling work there, would love to have had the time to do a full strip down of the brakes when I was re-commisioning my '44

Great news on the MOT [:D]

I stripped down and replaced the seals in my calipers in a day, well worth it.

Glad to hear you've got it back on the road now, those small issues shouldn't be too much hassle to sort out then you can get on and enjoy it.
