A-pillar/roof trim piece removal........

How easy is it to remove/reattach the bit that runs up the A-pillar and along the edge of the roof without damage, and how exactly is it held in place?

Would I be right in thinking it's better to remove this if you're having the roof sprayed? I'm hoping to get this done soon together with the bonnet, badge panel and headlight covers(both sides and P.U were done a while back when I had the sills replaced)

It depends upon whether, and how well the windscreen has been changed. It should be pull out the three bungs, undo the three screws, pull the door edging trim away, gently lift the edge of the trim over teh door way metal edge so it doesn't tare, and fiddle away from the dashboard and headlining trim, taking care not to bend it beyond the elsatic limit because there is a metal filler which will crease (guess how I know!). the problem is if the windscreen has been changed and the thing now glued in place with windscreen fitting gunge.

Easy when you know how, but easily and frequently spoilt. The top screw in the A-post trim goes directly up.....

I think Wolfie was talking about the outside windscreen trim as respraying is also mentioned and the answers are about the inside trims - unfortunately i dont know the answer to the outside trim but suspect it just pulls out and pushes in,
Tony

I was getting a bit confused(easily done), but I was indeed referring to the thin strip running up the outside of the A-pillar and round along the edge of the roof. I suspect there is a knack to it, but that it's another of these painfully expensive bits to replace and very easily damaged, either getting it off, or getting back on after respraying.

Er Oops! Sorry! I was indeed prattling on about the inside trim. I know Autoglass came prepared with a new trim when I had my windscreen replaced, so maybe an alternative source should it need replacement after removal.
