Another non start 83 944 - Advice please

Okay

picked up a very early guards red manual with 79K and ful service history the other day and started on it (trying to restore it).

would not start

So far i have done the following

new battery
New ref and speed sensors
new ECU
new DME
checked fuel pump

Diagnosed that there is no power to the coil at present when cranking.

Would this be faulty ignition switch?

Any other things that it could be please as really want to do this one up but need to start it to get it to the paintshop for a refresh.

83 Guards Red - 2.5 lux? Don't suppose the reg starts A162 (or history shows reg nos A19RTC or THU 7)? If so I can give you some history on the car!

OK you changed the crankshaft sensors, but teh first question I would still ask is whether teh tacho needle bounces when being turned over... given everything you have changed (assuming it is all good) I would suggest it is a wiring issue somewhere (assuming no power/signal to coil is the problem with it starting, which it most likely is) - broken or dodgy cnnection.

Oh, there isn't, or hasn't been, an imobiliser on the car is there? Especially a disabled one?!

Sounds like the ignition switch or wiring to it but could be the immobiliser if one is fitted clarks garage is a good place to start and work through.
Like ref says are you sure the wiring to the sensors aren't duff?

Cheers for the replies

Checked ignition, cables hacked about but all reconnected.

removed dash to check loom - okay

released fusebox removed A socket - gunk in the connectors.

Replaced entire fuseboard and hey presto

She Lives.

Now for a new exhaust discs and pads and off to the paintshop for a full body Guards Red.

Will have belt change on return and porsche sript interior.

Cheers

If you can I'd leave the discs and pads until after it is out of the paintshop, having seen the dust and rubbish that got into all sorts of inaccessable places on mine!

Oh and, congratulations BTW - its very satisfying breathing life back into them isn't it?
