Armrest/cassette holder broken

Oh b**st it! Just had a new gear lever gaiter made, and the armrest trimmed to match...black to match the centre console and the Momo wheel, reduces the relentless blueness of the interior. It looks superb (thanks to Paul the trimmer who usually does F1 steering wheels and "proper" classic cars).

Anyway, leaned across the car on Sunday morning before driving up to Cornbury House and broke the plastic hinge clean off. Should have realised the risk and got out and round the other side.

A happy outcome...it's easily available of course, but Exeter OPC beat two specialist prices of £23 and £15 with £8.95 + VAT. I think there'll be some PCGB discount to come off that, so add me to the list of Exeter fans (they'd previously supplied the rubber inner gaiter no problem, prompt and post free).

That's why I replaced mine with the 968 tray. I'd leaned over and broken it twice. To be fair, with my bad back it's not always easy to stretch over, so it was going to be an on-going problem. [&o]

Paul - meant to ask you, where did you get your 968 tray from? I'm thinking of doing the same as I'm bound to break a new hinged lid if I got one.

Exeter Porsche Centre. Was about £10 for the tray, and £8 for the rubber insert that had to come from Germany if I remember correctly.

It's bit of a pain in a way not to have the lid, things do fly about if cornering briskly, but then you can always put things in the glovebox.

It really isnt a '968 tray'. It was the standard part in series two 944s their introduction when the cassette tray was an option.

I know, just a generic term. [:)]

I've actually never seen an original one fitted to a 944. Was it standard in Germany, but the armrest was standard in UK?

UK cars too. My Alpine White and Burgundy 1987 car didnt have a cassette box, and it was an original one owner car bought from Merlin in Nottingham.
