Just noticed today that neither of my brake lights are working. One was milky white inside and in the other the glass had sepparated from the metal contact. anyway replaced them and still not working. All other rear lights are fine i.e. reverse and turn and checked every fuse and these are fine also. any ideas?
thanks
James

Switch is the obvious 1st call - personally I'd find the brake light fuse and mor than just double check it - especially if its an early car! (mines '83)
I.d alos check for volts at the light cluster
Then there is the wiring.

checked all the earths at the back and all are fine so checked brake pedal microswitch and it appears to be duff. no change in resistance when pressed/depressed and there is voltage coming into it fine so am now after one of these. any one got one spare to buy?

Should be easy to find at motor factors - GSF would be my 1st point of call or a breakers even.
Where abouts are you?
Mike

Am in lincoln, tried GSF and europarts but no luck will try motor factors now. had a look on ebay and they are there but all located in the US! not paying more than the part just in bloody postage to then wait ages

Call Exeter Porsche on 01392 822800 and they will post one to you.

It could be a £2.50 part [:)] or it could be a £25 part [&o] but you won't know until you call them

I did this on mine recently, was a £8 part from OPC was a bit of an arse to change as you have to stand on your head upside down in the foot well hold down the break peddle whilst useing two hands to undoo nut. I got wedged into the foot well and couldn't get out again, was stuck for ages before managing to get out. Blooming wife thought it all very funny.

But eventually got the thing changed, didn't take long and break lights worked again. I think we had been driving around for ages with them not working.
