Carpet dye

Not for my 944 but I just know the answers will be found here more likely than anywhere. Anyway, in another car, I have some faded black carpet. The carpet itself is not threadbare but 30 odd years has bleached the colour out. I'm thinking about dyeing the carpet, but has anyone here tried it, what is the result like and what did you use?

Valeter's dye should do the job. I havent done this personally but I know several people who have, including one on a nearly new Impreza: and the results were excellent and durable. Results depend on effort, of course...
