Cayman Spec (again)

Hi all,

I have been a lurker on these boards for a couple of months now - partly because I have been interested in Porsche for a long time, and partly because I have been 'researching' my potential next purchase. Not a huge leap to guess which car I am looking at! [8|]

I have read through the many debates, discussions and opinions here and on other forums, and am still wondering about some of the items on the wish list.

Part of my dilemma is the combination of certain options on the list rather than individual ones. To get started....

1) PASM - is it worth it or not? I am going to try and see how 'hospitable' the OPC is and try this one out, so should be easy'ish to make this decision, except for the following.

2) 18" or 19" - I know this has been debated to death and ultimately will be personal preference, but how will the two work together? I get the feeling I will be starting to push my luck asking to try these 4 combinations with the OPC.

3) Sports Chrono - Hmm - great - another factor. When you have this and no PASM (this seems to be possible) - it seems to only affect throttle response, the limiter and state of engine tune. With PASM, the Sport button seems to kick the PASM into Sport mode too. Is there any way to operate these two separately? What happens if I want sporty engne and throttle response but the roads are too rough for the damping to be rock hard? Is there any way to get this fitted without the (in my opinion) silly looking clock on the dashboard? Also - is the 'Plus' version worth it?

4) Tiptronic (waits for indrawn breaths [:D]) - Sadly I can only afford one car, so it will have to cater for my commuting, and having had both manuals and automatics before, I can definitely say which is less stressful. Having said that, I also really don't want to compromise what promises to be a brilliant car... Help.... *in a small voice*

With all 4 of those factors to consider, there are a load of different combinations to try - I doubt I will be able to test drive each of them.

When I add to this the question of sound systems (BOSE, Plus) , PCM or no PCM etc, the combinations become endless, and my bank balance will probably not rise to meet the occasion.

Can you wise people offer any sage advice?

Thanks,
Graeme
