Cayman718 2.5T GTS Sports Exhaust Performance

Hi, I’m not very impressed with the Sports Exhaust sound on my Cayman 718 2.5T GTS.
Does anybody have experience of fitting a third party exhaust, can they be controlled by Porsche switch mechanism and also has anybody seen an increase of power with a third party system.

Aftermarket systems can indeed be controlled by the Porsche switch mechanism if they use vacuum controlled valves like the OEM system.

Increased power generally comes with a remap rather than a silencer swap alone.
 
From some reviews, mainy in the US, the Soul OAPs and standard silencer are the best combination that doesn't result in any drone. One thing to bear in mind is that the GPF and Cats are monitored units in EU spec 718s and removing them will incur a CEL. The only way to get rid of this is to add a tune which will, of course, invalidate your warranty. Best route would probaby to just change the silencer but you'll be looking into 4 figures at least but I'm sure Dave can give you more info.

Personally I've done the exhaust flap actuator collar mod and it works great for me.

What is the exhaust flap actuator collar mod? Feel free to PM if necessary.

My car has 7k on it now and i have decided to keep it for the forseeable future unless a parts bin special is released at the end of production.

I Think mines sounds great to be fair. Always turns heads if you flaw it. And inside the cabin it really sings be that the fake sounds or what it sounds great and quite loud inside on wot.

I know later cars have longer rev ranges now for the flaps to be closed for a bigger range, mine is July 2023 and is fine, opens when you need it so no mods needed here.

I would go cargraphic mod button if you want to open the valves up more of the time , as the collor mods will cause drone on the motorway or lower revs which is not nice.

cars with OAP sound way way too lound imo, will cause a cell light and not MOT legal.

It’s a very simple mod where you attaché 2 aluminium or steel collars to the actuator bar. It prevents the valve from closing fully and you can adjust the amount it’s left open by simply moving the collar up or down.

In honesty it’s a bit fiddly to do and I used a set of feeler gauges to measure the gap on each side.

Here the link to the collars I have.

It’s 2.5 turbo, sorry should have mentioned earlier, have edited earlier thread.

Should have mentioned it’s a 2.5 T, is the mod applicable and what exactly is done ?

Thanks Dan , thought it would be an electrical solution similar to that available for the turbo models .
