Clunk noise from front off-side

Paul,

I originally contemplating having mine welded, but in practice it was too badly damaged to be worth it. And I don't have a welding set, so it would have meant finding someone to do it, dropping it off, collecting it later in the day (/week) ... it didn't make sense not to buy a new one, particularly as my local OPC had two in stock. I ended up doing both sides, on the basis that if one had broken the other one probably wasn't far behind.

The two brackets which connect the ARB to the car are only a fiver or so per side - I broke one last year and replaced them both.

Marv,

Yes, as you said, the lubrication is a great help. Doing the rear is a good idea as well - thanks. Good improvement for no cost and only a little effort. But where are you getting the front droplinks from for £4.74p from? Are we talking about the same part? They are nearly £20 each from an OPC, and similar prices wherever you look.

Hi Oli,

I mean the inner droplinks, not the outer ones. Parts 2 & 3 in the diagram below:

No. 3 is £5.40+VAT, each and no. 2 £4.74+VAT, each.

Sorry for the confusion!

Marv

Marv,

Thanks! Saved me thinking that I had been diddled by the OPC!

(In fact, when you consider what you are getting for the money, even those look expensive. Part 2 is essentially just a small mild steel plate. With a bend and a couple of holes. And Porsche want nearly a fiver! Had I had a half-decent workshop I'd have made replacements for the number 3 brackets when I broke one last year, as it would have cost pennies, if that ... )
