Driving / fog light protectors being made!

Great idea, my last lenses were very pitted and milky. Paintshield do a similar polyurathane protection film for lights that they fitted when they did the rest of my car, similar to their PPF but much thicker, its certainly difficult to see too.

I have the Paintshield film on mine too which does a good job of preventing grit blast and reckon it'd also work against small gravel, but stop a rock in won't. Personally I think the covers detract from the look IMHO

This is not normal PPF. This is film designed especailly for lights and is about 1.3mm thick, much thicker than the PPF used on your paint. The fiter told me it had been tested to withstand a 1inch rock at 125 mph striking glass. Thats why its need to be so thick, as glass does not bend and absorb impacts like your metal bodywork can.

Here's a picture of the thinkness of the headlight film on my lenses.

Sorry Edd, I didn't explain myself very well - I have the Paintshield thick film for lights, but I don't have their PPF on the bodywork.

As regards their claims of repelling a 1 oz rock at 125 mph, I'd take that with a pinch of salt - it'll partly depend on the size and thickness of the glass and angle of strike etc etc
