Front coil spring diameter

Hi all

I'm selling a pair of Tech Art front coil springs on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270589996357&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT) and I've been asked a question about whether they'd fit a 944S.

This begs the question: does anyone know what the spring diameters fitted to the various models was? I think there were two different diameters used but what are they and which cars do they fit?

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

regards
Nick

I Think they will fit 220 turbos, all luxes and maybe some early S2's - the diameters are quite different so its easy enough to check. I sold my original (large dia) set to someone with an S2 - though I believe most S2 have the smaller dia 968 size spring as did my 90 turbo. MO30 Turbos have a spring that is wider one end than the other so def wont fit those. I really liked my tech-art springs and I think they are no longer available, I ran them (second small dia set) on my Turbo for around 50k miles. IIRC they are made by eibach to techart specs and were around 200 euros

Just a small comment regarding spring sizes and shapes etc, and apologies if anyone is already aware of this....

Eibach, Techart etc make good springs and have already done the maths referencing lowering etc.

Over the years I've owned a number of Porsches and BMW's - if you want lowered improved rate, dual rate etc springs - visit or speak to Coilsprings in Sheffield - they're brilliant and very helpful.

You can with their guidance and assistance literally order whatever size, shape, rebound rate, lb/ft, length etc (in any colour powder coating) and they'll produce if for for less than £150 per pair

Nick,
My springs have a free length of 410 mm and a diameter of 119 mm.
They are on the standard suspension struts (not M30 Koni ) and are colour coded with two faded white or light yellow dots. They are for a 1989 2.7 944.

Just building up two standard struts to swap with those on the car - hence the free length knowledge.
