Front dampers

I have been offered some (for the price of a pint and a bacon buttie) 944T front struts from a 1990 model car but they come with no springs or top mounts just strut legs and inserts.
as the front dampers on my 1985.5 2.5l 944 are pretty tired i'm tempted to fit them to that.
would they be a direct swap? ie just fit my springs and top mounts or would I have to change the insert over inside the leg? also would the standard springs be overdamped?

!st thought is no, bottom mounts are different
but Didn't think Turbo (and S2) could have inserts in the front struts? so are they from a Turbo?
is your car a oval or square dash, square dash certainly can have inserts, not sure about the 85/86 lux's.
The 1st alloy armed cars had the same suspension pick ups as the earlier cars so the late struts may fit!
Doesn't really help does it!
But for the exchange I'd get them and see!

The factory Turbo struts did not have inserts but many people now cut the strut and fit an aftermarket insert from Koni so it could be one of those. I don't think your '85 springs will fit the later strut
