Well I have had 9 Porsche over 20 years, C2, C4, Boxster S, Turbo S and GT3RS Gen2, bar far the most exciting was the RS. However recently I test drove the new Boxster S, and I have to say firstly I was really impressed with the looks, by far the best looking Porsche ever made, of course IMO, but then the drive was amazing, it just all came together so nicely, ok not the fastest but under 5 sec is quick enough, comfortable, lovely ride and grown up.

Now I was until this test drive thinking of filling the garage with a 991 S , but I really don't need 4 seats, i have a 7 series for that, I don't need another RS it's wasted on me as I am not a track driver, but above all else no matter how hard I try I just can't see where Porsche get the 991 is worth another £35k on top of the Boxster, so I am placing an order for a very nicely loaded Boxster S with a lot of ticked boxes and the sports exhaust, we are not having a summer so I don't mind waiting until September. To be honest I am actually quite excited, it's such a dam nice car, I might even go for a factory collection !

Sorry if I posted in the incorrect section

Congrats! Also it's interesting to hear the view point of someone who's had the impreddive list of Porsche that you've had.
Sorry but can I ask, given that you're coming from a coupe, might the imminent 981 Cayman give you a dilema?

Go for the factory collection if you can - a great option. I really enjoyed our visit there when we collected a 986 S. The drive back was pretty good too. Good luck and let us know what you've optioned

Thanks for the images of the new cayman again lovely, what seems a little odd to me is that Porsche are making the Boxster convertiable and coupe version a much prettier car than the 991, o well it's our gain all they way to the Bank.

For me it's nice to have the option of an open roof, also the rear seats on a 911 would not allow any of my kids to sit in them as all my kids are over 5'10" .

One of the dealers is offering me a nearly perfect demo car , minus the sports exhaust (which I understand will be available as an after fit,) for £3000k less than list but to be honest it's not a fortune and I am not missing much with there being no summer, so may as well do a factory visit.

I watched the Chris Harris YouTube even he feels the Boxster is not the inferior member of the Porsche line up.

Don't forget your heated seats - an essential for those frosty top down November frosty morning drives!

Thats assuming it ever stops raining[;)]

Having had 5 x 911's and to date 6 x Boxsters I fully understand your decision and IMO the 981 is not only the best £ for £ Porsche out there today but also the best looking convertible in the current Porsche ranges. I also think the 981 dash with the integrated sports chrono dial is a far neater solution than the current 991's wart on top [:'(]

If a dealer is offering £3k off list for a well thrashed demo car I would personally find a dealer offering similar discount of a factory fresh order

New cars aren't flying off the shelf currently. Good luck with your new stunning looking choice

Guys order placed, confimed delivery is 4 weeks longer because of the sport exhaust

I have 24 hours to change my mind on the colour so far I have chossen White with Black roof and leather , but ??? My family all like other combinations.

I also like the white with Red interior but worried about resale and I am in my 50's so might be too much? Value input please.

I'm 46, going on 47. I don't care what anyone thinks, I only care whether I like the colour combination. After all, I will be looking at it the most! As for resale, why try to predict the future?

The main thing I miss about my Boxster S is the Carrera Red full leather interior. I got what I wanted (at 68 I should care) and did not worry about resale value which turned out to be a non issue.

I would go with white and red interior and roof seen it in flesh and beautiful have fun .i love your spec, similar to that Linda wants me to get

Well I went for the GT Silver and red inside but importantly with the Sports steering wheel (with paddles and more silver), might because of the Very High spec take a bit longer, but as you only live once and blow it if in 3 years its only worth £30K I hope I dont want to sell it for a lot longer.
I stuck with the standard 19" wheels I really dont think 20" wheels make it ride better and quite happy not spending £2K on more wheels , rather have the red leather

Our 987 was white with terracotta interior but did not like red on 981 so went for a change - two tone grey - quite pleased but may have a problem keeping light grey carpet clean but it only comes out on sunny days - which is not very often at the moment! Looking for a ferry to sun.

Colours are personal choice - our first white Boxster 11 years ago was taboo - never resell - yet we sold it with one advert in Autotrader.

GT silver and Carrera Red is an excellent choice .. this was my RS60 Spyder's colour combination, and it was very classy

As my Discovery 4 is Santorini Black with black windows (known as "The Hearse" in the road) I had to keep a matching pair! Gone with Basalt Black with black interior and Basalt black 19" wheels. Looking at the 3D configurator it is some machine whether day or night, lights on or off! Trust you have all tried this yourselves. Will be known as "Little Hearse" no doubt, but as all past cars have been black as nothing looks as good when clean, and my only physical excercise is car cleaning so no problem! However, in my view to be fair, just about any colour looks good on the 981.

Congrats Martin. I didn't see a bad choice amongst all the colour combinations you were considering, so, looks very good!! As someone else has said, it's reminiscent of the Boxster RS60 Spyder colour combination. You're initial choice was reminiscent of the Boxster Spyder launch colour combination. So you haven't chosen anything risqué. As others have said, don't worry about re-sale. You've done the right thing - enjoy it for what you get out of it. What colour is your roof?
