Grrrr, she's scarred

Parked in my usual place at work this morning, in a private car park, and when I returned this evening I thought, somethings not right and lo and behold some "replace with appropriate swear word" had reversed into the side of my little black beauty and not left a note. Big old scuff and white scar down the side and blue paint stuck to the side of the car.

There's paint on my car, paint on the floor - they would have blinkin noticed - makes me livid and what's worse its going to be a colleague [][]

The good thing is, its quite clearly blue paint, of which I have lots of evidence, big flakes of the stuff obviously from a plastic bumper and secondly, I park in direct view of a security camera which security use to open the gate, so lets just hope it records, (pray)

Now I just need to prove it - dons dark rain coat to hide behind the pillars in car parks

GGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Apologies for rant.

No need to apologise for the rant, rather disgusting that a colleague hasn't owned up to the damage, I'd be checking every blue car and even going as far as making it know you'll be having the paint checked for make and model

Apologies for rant.

Rant on, it's a horrible feeling. Just remember it's only a car, and the person involved has to live with themselves. []

My van (15 feet long and turquoise, so hard to miss) has been knocked more times than I remember, including by a New Forest pony whilst in a pub car park....[&o]

I'm going to wait around in the morning and wait for a blue mk 5 golf - I think I know the culprit - cue manic laugh

I found the culprit this morning, and security are going to check the footage, and I've left a note on their windscreen so it's only a matter of time to see if they have the decency to own up

Tick tock tick tock

This happened to me with a different car. I tracked down the culprit, by comparing paint colours and bumper heights, and when confronted they said "Oh, I thought I had just clipped your wing mirror". The damage was a dent/scrape about an inch deep and along along the rear wing and door! They paid for the repair though. I hope your offender does the same. Good luck.

Don't forget the "dent doctor" type of repair...if the paint's not cracked/broken they can work wonders.....we've a specialist on here somewhere (Paul?)

Another thing...remember if it was on the public highway, it counts as leaving the scene of an accident without giving your details, an endorsable offence. Wife of a friend of mine was seen and reported hitting another car, then amazed to find it carries 9 POINTS!! No joke if the culprit already had 3 for speeding.....

She owned up this morning and has already given me a cheque for the work. Not sure if it will cover it or not, but only time will tell.

She had a whole backstory to explain her mindset at the time - as she's an ex-colleague I said not to worry, it's only a car.[;)]

BUT WHAT A CAR [:D]

If "they" can be bothered... I was hit whilst I was parking, ran after the third party, as they had to give way onto the main road I was able to get the registration number. Reported to the police, and my insurance company. Outcome: Insurance company said I would be at fault because I was undertaking a parking manouvre, police said the vehicle type and reg matched up, but wouldn't do anything because there weren't any independant witnesses... I asked about the blue paint on the car, and they said that would require forensics, who were over stretched, and so this wouldn't be justified use of their time. So I settled for a hike in my insurance as I now have an accident recorded, they get away free to do it again...

With 20/20 hindsight, I should have pushed the police into at least presenting what they had and see if they got and admission... how-ever, my insurance company did advise me that they might be able to claim against me... still think it's all wrong... but thanks all for another opportunity to rant!

Result! Even if it's not quite enough then at least you're better off than getting into an argument or a court case.

Me too, my car was hit when parked, my wife was in the passenger seat and got the reg, police said go through insurance, insurance contacted the driver and she denied it, I had an accident on record despite not being in the car and not claiming - damage was less than excess. Went to insure my other car on separate policy with different company 6 months later and they wanted an extra £100 because of the accident recorded on the insurance database.
