Help - Running Rich

OK guys I am running out of ideas here. I have had the air flow meter off this afternoon for some testing and cleaning. All turned out to be well with the AFM and a quick adjustment to the wiper was made to bring it out of it's grooves. Tested again prior to installation and all was good. When I started the car again it is running seriouly rich. I mean I don't even need the AFR to tell me so I can smell and see it.. Checked all the plugs and all is good. Took the AFM out again stripped it and tested it again - all good. Refitted and same story. Have tested the DME temperature sensor and that seems fine. I am running out of ideas??? Could I have developed a short in the feedback from the AFM to the DME (I assume that is where it goes) for the air flow reading or the air temperature reading? Stuck at work at the minute and need to get home [:mad:]
 
Did this running rich exactly correspond with taking off the airflow meter, or was the latter and attempt to fix the rich running?

When you say the plugs are fine, I take it they are black and indicative of rich running, just not broken or missing electrodes etc.

Did you test the resistance of the DME temperature sender both cold and hot? When mine failed I almost didn't test it hot, because it was fine cold, and it was only a tad out of the resitance range hot, but it made a big difference.

It happened after I reinstalled the AFM. When I was talking about the plugs I meant the plugs for the AFM not the spark plugs mate. Yes tested the DME sensor hot and cold.
 
I had crazy overfueling problem on my turbo, I did several things including changing the air flow meter for a known good one (cheers Sulzeruk).But what I also did was check my fuel pressure regulator as these can fail in high position and hence hold the pressure in the fuel rail way over spec (should be 29psi at idle). They are cheap enough and I also got a fuel rail gauge from Promax which helped here also. Look back at my previous posts to see what I did and the advice everybody else gave me to try sort it. I reckon it might just be the fuel pressure regulator.

Are you running a 3 bar FPR on your setup? In the case ignore my figure of 29psi as you will have higher (44 or so psi?), but this could still be your problem
 
Problem sorted I think mate. Don't know how I managed it but I manged to dislodge and move the wiper so consequently it wasn't in the right place for whatever throttle setting and subsequent air flow. I think it must have been loose anyway so perhaps not too bad a thing. Thing now is getting it back to it's correct position. It is a bit hit and miss and now I am a tad lean (god it hepls to have anf AFR). I will have more time to spend on it tonight and will hopefully get it sorted.
