Ok I've succumbed to the darkside, well not really, I've been abscent from the titanic forum for some time now due to work and life etc and when i did return i discovered it was all but dead. Anyway...John Sims to the rescue and he informed me you guys are all hanging out on this forum now so here I am......now all i need to do now is work out how to use this forum.......

Pete

Hi Pete

I see by your signature that it went well at Waynes with the VR MAF yesterady

SPILL THE BEANS!

Hi Paul

Yes it went very well.......wrote the following report for the titanic forum but it didn't get there yet for some reason...lol ...so i've copied and pasted it here....

Ok guys Wayne did his magic for me yesterday so here are the results....[FONT=verdana,geneva"]First run with car untouched was 329.2 BHP and 330.7 lb of Torque, which means the vitesse MAF gave me an extra 48 BHP and 10 lbs of torque straight out of the box. The fueling though was all over the place and dangerously lean at parts just as I suspected by how it drove on the road and the reading that the wideband AFR was giving me, boost at this point was 16psi. Wayne then set to work, hours in fact taking the car through it's paces from the bottom up using the piggy back system supplied by Vitesse to see if he could achieve a good setup without having to replace the vitesse chip/board. The answer was yes and without any fuss too, boost was increased to 17psi, could have gone further but that was high enough for me, end result was 368.9 BHP and 382.2 lbs of torque. On the road....?...well fantastic doesn't say enough, engine is ultra smooth, in fact don't think it ran this smooth when I bought it in standard trim, response is more or less instant and pulls like a train, even my wife commented on how smooth the car was running for our 3 1/2 hour journey home. [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Am I happy...?...you bet....will i go further..?....of course...but one thing is certain each time I do it will be Wayne Schofield at chipwizards who I'll untrust to get the best drivability from my car, power means nothing...it's how it drives on the road that makes a quick car....

Great news , I was going to give you a call yesterday evening to see how it went but after a long day taking my car down to Jons it went right out if my mind. My car Dyno'd at 350bhp and 450lbft when it was still on the AFM running 16pi. Ater fitting the VR MAF my wideband showed it to be pretty close to spot on straight out of the box (14.5: at idle and cruising and 12.2:1 on boot) though the cold start was still a bit lumpy.

I'm hoping for great things once the piggyback is installed and we can tailor it properly.

looks like you'll have a very powerful 944 when finished...well done.....:)

Pete

Pete,
Welcome to the forum! Smashing power figures you have there

. I think this is the first time on this forum I've read reference to wayne at chipwizards and his skills as a tuner. My car was also set-up by wayne ( before I became the owner) and I feel the same way you do about it, ultra smooth, no lag to speak of with instant response.

Best regards

John Daly.

Hi,

Wayne has a very good reputation on the 993 forum, and I think he might do the re-mapping for 9M in Warrington, who have some serious pieces of kit around

Pete

Pete's car is one of the best condition 944s that I've ever seen (even though it is red [;)]), and now it's getting the power and smoothness to match its good looks.

Have you had a chance to scan in any dyno sheets? I'd love to see how it makes it's power through the rev range.

I'm sorry, I must dispute that comment. The last time I saw it, after ten minutes of looking, I was triumphant in finding a blemish.....There was a very small rub in the paintwork under the boot spoiler. [] Obviously I couldn't see it when the boot was shut, but I wasn't willing to accept that the car was perfect. [:D]

Hi Peter, welcome to the forum. I hope we will get to see a bit more of you in person again. After all I hold you solely responsible for me selling a perfectly good Lux (in fact a very good Lux) to buy a Turbo...my bank manager has never looked back.

I'm glad your day with Wayne was worth the wait. I still hold that Wayne's World and real life sometimes collide, but very seldom. It is just as well he is good at what he does (allegedly [;)]) as the last time he played with Beaky he set him on fire...litteraly.

17psi is a bit limp though. When are you going to start running some proper boost. [:D]

Which dyno was that done on, Pete?

"The Runcorn Rambler", because it is near to Wayne. Not that it makes much difference as he is completely unable to get there on time.

I was talking to Pete yesterday and noted that, in the TIPC mag, there seems to be a Dyno Dynamics dyno near to where he works. While it may not be the official "Rollers of Truth" I assume it would be acceptable for Rick's league table.

Hi John

If your car is the one I'm thinking off and I only know one with a BHP of 422, that being Andrew Sweetenhams car, then I know it well having been a passenger in it at castle coombe while annilating all opposition and also having known andrew since 1998 when I bought my first mod from him, you have a very quick car there sir.....well done..

Pete

Hi Pete,
It is Andrews old car, he is a top guy, I'm very happy with it. I've recently given her a full repaint and will sort the interior out this summer. Your own car is pushing serious power too
m11.gif
. The guys on here say the condition and paint on your is incredible..... So get those pics of her posted soon!

Regards

John Daly.

Glad you made it over here Pete, do you know if Wayne adjust the ignition and the fuelling with the piggyback or just the fuelling?
Cheers,
Tony

Hi Pete, good to see you're still around!

Get the car out to the Ace Cafe - it won't embarass us so much under their poor lighting...[;)]

Hi David and welcome to the best 944 site!
I'm in Leicester but am sure there will be someone from your part of the would along soon.
Mines an 83 so I know a bit about the early cars
Enjoy it !
Mike

Welcome!

Porsche centre is the first place to look for parts, Exeter is a good one and will post things out if your nearest doesn't keep a wide stock. Other parts suppliers are in the faqs.

Welcome to 944 ownership - am based in Crawley and have an '83, so nice to know there is someone else in the vague locality. There is a good independant chap down here near Copthorne (close to Horley) by the name of Jota Engineering - quick search of the forum should give you his details. Not used him yet, but will probably do so soon......
