Some of you will have had your Caymans for a while now. I was wondering if the constant bitching in the British motoring press about the pricing has annoyed you and how happy you are with your car?
As for me, it's worth every single penny. If I had to buy it again, I would! It's exactly the car that I wanted when I bought my Boxster back in 2003, but a coupe wasn't available then.
I had the badge deleted from the rear and chose a colour that blends into the road (Seal Grey) to try to make it an anonymous as possible. Yet, people still slow down and look. It's kind of embarrassing as I sometimes wish nobody actually noticed my car!
The engine is still tight as i've just gone over 3,000 miles. I'm starting to take it to the red line every now and then and it's pretty scary and loud! I still seem to have a completely airtight cabin and the rear hatch cannot be slammed shut if the doors are closed. The airtight cabin produces a bizarre 'pressure-wave' effect that i'm still getting used to. I do wonder about the long-term effects if this on my hearing as this effect overloads several microphones that I have tried in order to get a decent recording of the sound in the cabin. I'm borrowing a sound meter to measure the sound pressure level in a couple of weeks as this does concern me a little. I'm pretty sure that the sound pressure level exceeds 100dB inside the cabin when accelerating hard.
Despite that niggle, and a couple of repaired stone chips in the windscreen, it's a perfect car!
