New member
Being a virgin 944 owner and without workshop manual, what should 1983 model tick over at? Mines on about 750. It "sounds" to slow when in the car, but "sounds" OK standing a meter away from it. My 924 is at 870, which is right according to tech guide, but "sounds" slow also. Is this a Porsche thing or am I mad!
 
Could be nothing more than a bit of stickiness in the MAF or throttle body, but mine was doing this when I bought it and it got steadily worse, then went the other way and would hold idle at all - turned out to be the DME temperature sensor packing up..........
 
Yes I am thinking of changing this as a matter of course. Fairly cheap on europarts. Have been having a little trouble with the air flow meter in the last week also.
 
Yes everything in my brain tells me that it should be constant even with rad fans, heater fan on full blast and air con switched on!! Guess I am just stabbing in the dark to not convince myself that I should try a new air flow meter. Alasdair don't suppose you could add one to my shopping list for diagnostics???? Oh and an outside temp sensor as well.
 
I'd check all the tubes and elbows/tees in the vacumn system thoroughly . You may have a slight leaks somewhere out of sight under the inlet manifold . You can paint or spray a soapy solution on all the joints when running should show up any leaks
