Need your diagnosis

I changed the dash a few months back, i havent driven it for a while. Last time the battery was dead but i jumped it off another car and all was well. Just tried again.... completely dead, hooked it up to my other car and got some lights, it tried to turn over but thats all.

Is this just a drained battery or something else? i'm selling it and somebody is coming tomorrow afternoon so dont want to waste their time.

Anything obvious or trip to the doctors?

A damn good charging would be were I would start mate, especially after a long time standing. A good supply of leccy is the key to all things.
 
If it's turning over I'd be suspect the alarm immobiliser first if you have one fitted. Either no fuel or no spark.
 
If it has run since you refitted the dash it simply didn't stop working all by itself!!!!! Charge it good and proper and see what happens in the morrow.
 
you must have at least 200rpm cranking speed before the ECU will ground the DME relay and earth the fuel pump and ignition system.
Check and clean the earthing point and strap from engine to chassis back of cam cover to firewall.
Ditto starter motor connections.


Remove the DME relay
Check you have 12v+ at terminal 30 of the DME relay socket.
Make up a 3x way bypass as described on Clarks garage workshop manual.
Place one spade connector in terminal 87b the other in 87 lastly put the third spade connector in terminal 30.
Your pump will pump continuously and the ECU should ground the ignition system .The bypass effectively bypasses the sensors that the ECU reads
check you have a spark when cranking, if you have the car should start

If you haven't started it for a while your injectors will probably be sticky too.
If it coughs but doesn't start or starts and cuts out you might need to flash the injectors with 9v . pm me and I'll describe how to do it.

 
why do people do that ?

Start a thread (or two) asking for members help then not bother to answer or look back at the thread for days/weeks /ever ? grrrrr
 
beats me... though I'll admit to not thanking every reply I get to an enquiry because it isn't particularly useful to most who read the thread...

Of course now Peanut, we'll be watching to see if you come back for an answer to this question of yours[:D]
 
Have to say, that post from Peanut is one of the most useful ones I have read on here.

It's so good, it's worth repeating. Like this:

I'm with you Oli. It may have gone over your head sc0tty, but I think most people here would have followed it.
