Painting a dashboard !

I have aquired a crack free dash for my square dash lux, only problem is its black and my old one is brown. I can either change the rest of the interior to match the black one, which would be an improvement but a pain to do, or spray the black one brown. Has anyone got any experience of changing the dash colour, I've been told it can be done effectively.

You can easily paint it (with the correct paint)

Crucially (as for any painting) the surface needs to be scrupulously clean so you`ll need a good cleaner that will remove years of grime and polish etc

Many thin coats with drying time in between etc etc

It can be changed, but none of the early dash browns are particularly nice. The rest of the trim is virtually worthless (apart from the door cards and they arent valuable), provided that you buy it from the right place, making a colour change practical. Most light grey (grey-beige) trims will go just as well with the 'black' dash: many better.

Thanks for the pointers guys.

Since the whole interior is a fetching dog doo brown it may be a pain to change it all, so the cheaper, if less aesthetically pleasing option, will be to spray it, just have to get the right colour and type of paint.

Trust me: swapping it will be far, FAR easier. The only slightly tricky bit youre doing anyway - the dashboard. The rest is simple.
