Porsche Cayman S - 1,000 mile report

My Cayman S has now covered 1,000 miles in around 4 weeks. I've been keeping the revs quite low until now - generally below 3,500rpm. I'm now starting to go slightly over 4,000rpm and the engine is sounding very good.

No faults to report since the slight scare about a fluid leak and the clutch biting point within the first week. No more stonechips on the windscreen either. The one I got within four days of picking the car up has been repaired. I've got a slight scratch on the roof from a stone that came flying towards me on the motorway but it's hardly noticeable so i'm not going to get it repaired.

The car is becoming much smoother now. The early difficulty in engaging first gear has all but gone and the gearchange is becoming silky smooth. The ride has improved and the car is much more settled now, even on rough roads. The car has hardly used any oil at all but I did top it up a week ago with a touch of Mobil-1.

The full automatic air-conditioning is a very useful option in the recent very hot weather we've been having. I've just left the temperature at 22 degrees Celsius and the never had to touch it once.

Before I got the car I was worried about its ability to handle speed bumps and driveways and i'm happy to report that the Cayman S handles speed bumps and driveways with ease. Hardly any scraping in the dozen or so speed bumps that I encounter on a daily basis - provided you slow right down for them!

The car is difficult to climb out of and i'm keeping an eye on the seat edge by the drivers door to see if it scuffs up over time. I guess it will.
