ProMax Motorsport chip

New member
So - following on from my thread re change to an S2, I purchased a Promax chip for my 2.7 lux.

So - get home, wip out the ECU, split the boards, to find.................................................:

A Promax motorsport chip already installed!!! DOH!!!..

The one that was already in there has a Promax sticker on that just says promax, and then hand written in pen 944/2.7/501
501 being the numbers in my number plate...

The new one his a fully printed sticker with promax 2.7 944 on.

So - what one do I run?? does the fact that the origional is handwritten mean it is possibly mapped specifically for my car??

Oh Poo!!

What we think??

Try asking Promax?
If it was mapped for your car they may well have records.
I imagine Andrew would swop the new one for something else if you ask nicely.

TBH I think the new one is smoother and quicker, maybe a newer map.. either way, she flies!!!! :)

It's all in your mind. You've spent money, you're expecting/wanting it to be quicker. Promax are a very well respected outfit with a good reputation, you'll get your money back

Hi Ant,

If you need to return it, that's no problem. We can also do a checksum on your original chip to determine if the mapping is the same as your new chip (I don't remember any hand written labels).

To trace the records of the car, if we haven't seen it before 2007, we would need to go back through the archived computer records (using the previous owner name - from 2000 to Aug 2007), all later transactions will be on our current system where we can query by registration (or owner name).

If you need any help, please give the office a call and ask for Andy - 01296 714856 (or send an email to parts@promaxmotorsport.com, or message via the website).

Regards,
Andrew
