We have been invited to join R22 on an evening (7.30pm - 10pm) visit to RAF Spadeadam, Brampton.

Access to a live MOD site like this very rarely available and full details to follow including times we plan to arrive. Obviously it's a live MOD base so rocking up 3 hours early won't be an option.

The original limit of 20 has been extended to 50 cars and Mike Trotter has been kind enough to extend us an invitation.

For more details or to book your place, please use the link below:

Apologies everyone but as this is a sort rate opportunity for the club, we must insist on Porsches only attending.

Please only take reserve a place if you can make it as places are very limited

Dave

Good evening Dave,

Just read with interest the subject post of the R22 visit to Spadeadam on 8 June.

I've emailed Mike to book a place if available.

Iā€™ll make sure my launch control is in good order in case its needed, Biggles.

Should make for an entertaining evening.

Thank you and best regards,

Randall

Hi Dave,

Emailed Mike to reserve a space, sounds interesting but i don't have the lauch control like Randall. Having said that, I am sure there is a spare seat in his car if required

Hi Dave,

Iā€˜ve emailed Mike at R22 with our details requesting 2 places for Hazel and me for the RAF Spadeadam visit.

Thanks

Geoff

I had given up on this visit after sending a couple of emails and registering my interest to cornbury house but am glad to say I received confirmation on Monday.

For some reason PCGB emails along with other legitimate emails are going into my junk folder and by chance found it there. Really excited about this visit šŸ˜€ This site was at the forefront of ukā€™s missile program after the war. Have a look on google earth to see the fascinating stuff scattered around which is easier now due to the deforestation these last few years.

I clicked on the link in Dave's original post and it took me to a PCGB official page where I booked with one click.....it selected my car from the profile registered on the club site, so no need to email Mike....I got an immediate reply and have been confirmed with a ticket showing on my profile page...let me know where we are meeting for a convoy to Spadeadam.

p.s. Spadeadam site is (was) also the site for British Gas Research & Development (where I used to work) and I've seen a few planned gas explosions at the site.....very impressive when you can feel the heat from over a mile away..

THIS EVENT IS FULL NO FURTHER BOOKINGS WILL BE TAKEN.

Everyone who has booked please arrive 7pm sharp late arrivals will not be permitted on base.

1- Photo ID

2-Booked members only

2- Car registration you booked With.

3-Proof of membership or card

4- Porsche's only On base.

Anyone turning up who has not booked will not be accepted.

Sorry to be so blunt but these are the rules given to us by the base.

Thanks everyone for your support.

If we have to meet the R22 people at MGR (???) at 7.00pm, are we from R3 going to meet earlier and convoy across?

I'm guessing Hexham services (BP/Starbucks/Greggs) would be appropriate, but what time?......Dave can you advise, thanks.

As rounding up PCGB members is like herding cats, personally I would suggest meeting at 6pm to leave at 6.15 that way we can ensure we all get there in time for the all-important 7pm deadline. Don't forget to factor in it will be rush hour and the long stretch of average speed cameras from Haydon Bridge to Haltwhistle.

Google says it's between 36 and 42 minutes. I agree with Greg that because of after work traffic we should meet earlier and leave no later than 6.15pm to respect Mike's wishes of getting there by 7pm prompt.

Remember there will also be heavy traffic getting 'to' Hexham services so I'm planning to leave early and be at Starbucks by 5.30pm.

Don't forget your photo i.d. ; PCGB number etc.

Iā€™m in Keswick this week and will travel from Keswick to RAF Spadeadam and meet you there.

Hi Geoff.

Feel free to call at Sallys on your way if you like. Some of R22 will be setting off from here.

Sally and i will be there at 6pm and them that want to will set off about 6.20pm in convoy.

CA4 8RN.

Sally's Warwick Bridge.

Tea shop and home of R22.

Cheers Mark.
