Rear seat belts in early (83) model

Wondered if anyone had ever fitted rear seat belts into an early model, and if so where the mounting points are ? Would like to take the kids out occasionally and would prefer them not to climb out the sunroof.......[:)]

I believe they are either side of each of the rear seats - a lap belt only... I also believe I may have a set around somewhere...
I think only the later cars had the inertia reel facility in the boot.

3 point belts came in around 1988 and are not easy to retrofit to earlier models (I looked into it before I bought mine) all Cabs just have lap belts, although I have seen a pair of 4 point harnesses in the back of a Cab, which seemed a good idea, and could be an option for an earlier car?

I only have experience of the 924S but it might be the same. The '88s had three point intertia reel belts and all earlier models had a 2 point lap belt. You could fit a 3 point belt to the earlier cars as there is a mounting point on the C pillar. You couldn't fit inertia reel belts though.

I have fitted static 3 points to the rear of my car, they are ok but not great.

If you talk to quickfit-sbs (http://www.quickfitsbs.com/) they can fabricate you mounting points and hence fit intertia belts to an older 944. I did get a quote but can't remember exactly. It might have been £350 or £500 fitted. I can recomment them, they fitted inertia belts to the back of my 911 (these have the mounting points though) and did an excellent job, cost £300 all in. They did a really neat bit of work where the belt comes through the rear parcel shelf.

It was well worth the trip darn sarf to that London, I took my lad to the natural history museum for the a couple of hours and he loved it.

Dont suppose anyone has got a set of rear seatbelt clips/locks they dont need?
( and an electric window switch...)
944s BTW

Take the electric window switch apart CAREFULLY clean the contacts put back together and replace plug it in and away you go, it's easy peasy, only a couple of components in there.
Somewhere in the Midlands does direct fit lap belts or the 944 at around £30 sorry i cannot recall the name...............try a google ?

Its been said already but i'll just back it up that inertia's can only be fitted to later cars, and the bracket for the inertia roller is not welded in on the earlier cars.

3 point fixed/adjustable or 2 point lap belt only, all fittings for these will be in the car, you'll need to cut through the centre seat pad and the carpet for the 2 lower fixing points

Thanks for all the comments - great help. Tref - if you find the lap belts you think you have lying around somewhere, I would be very interested in taking them off your hands, as I can strap the child seats in without needing 3-point, or intertia reels. Will try and PM you at lunchtime.......
