Rear seats

My 944 has the rare split leather rear seats, but they are not in great condition. Finding replacements is hard, but after looking at a 964 they look the same.
The porsche part numbers are 944 552 *** and the 964 are 911 552 *** so this makes me think they are the same, anyone know?

Porsche part numbers use groupings, so that suggests a similar item for a different application, to me.

Tom,
I just stuck my head out the front door to do a comparison - they look quite different to me. The 944 backrest is really only the top half of the backrest as the seat base curves part of the way up. Whereas on the 964 the hinged backrest is the entire backrest. Also, the bolster shapes are different and the release mechanisms work differently, i.e. on the top of a 944 backrest, but on the centre hinge of a 964. If you wish I could take a photo tomorrow when the light is better but on the evidence of what I've just seen, they're quite different.

Thats what I thought Tom similar number for similar but not the same part

As the seats in our 944s are glued to the floor pan then the shape would be different although the fold down back pieces may be the same [8|]

I had in my head the parts would be the same but we get lots off 993/964 part numbers on our cars so guess the numbers would be the same.

Yes Will I was thinking of just the backs, have you had any joy with the car? You know it makes sense not to buy a 996 [:D]

Neil cheers for looking, helps if you own both [;)]

Well sod it then, guess it will be a long time until I find some.

I'm also after black leather front sports seats and basicly a full new interior, but the car has the extra leather dash/door option so hard to track down!
