Road Angel in the Cayman

With the Road Angel on top of the dashboard, whether I plug it into the socket in the centre console or the cigar lighter I have a long curly cable impinging on my driver space which looks unsightly and gets in the way. My OPC offered to fit another socket in the passenger footwell (as is fitted to Bose equipped cars) but I still think I'd have a lot of cable to contend with. One solution might be the Road Angel Plus (mine is the original 'Classic' model) which is battery powered so sticks to the screen with no cables. The only downside to this could be the advertised 8 hour battery life, which sounds as if I'll be charging it up before/after almost every journey.
Does anyone have any experience of Road Angel Plus re the battery life issue, or can anyone suggest another solution to the dangling cables problem?
