Satnav thieves (plus replacement Window availability)

I had the annoying inconvenience of having the side window smashed on Thursday night by thieves trying to get my TomTom (NW6 in London). I had stupidly left the windscreen mount on the windscreen so although the Satnav wasn't in the car they had a go to see if it was in the glove box. I understand from the police and other sources (e.g., autoglass website) that this is a bit of an epidemic now but thought i'd post this to remind everyone not to give the little ****ards any encouragement to have a go

One thing it did show me is that Porsche don't appear to ensure they have vital parts like this on hand. I eventually found a replacement at Porsche Chiswick but was told this was the only one in the South of England and there are only 4 in stock round the country (neither Autoglass nor RAC had one). When you need this replaced time is of the essence so surely Porsche should have a few more on hand (notwithstanding good business practice of keeping stock levels reasonably low). I felt that I had been extremely lucky to get the 'last one' and that anybody experiencing the same this week will have to wait for the part to be ordered from Germany, possibly with an unsealed car. Would welcome anybody else's thoughts or experiences.
