Shaking steering wheel.

This is a bit odd but every once in a while when i start the car ( seemingly more commonly after the car after it has been sat for a day or two and its been raining although maybe just coincidence) and try to reverse of the drive the steering wheel vibrates/shakes quite violently from side to side.

I can only think it must be either the power-steering fluid or pump. Its almost as if the car is travelling over railway sleepers and the wheel seems to be in control, sort of vague and unresponsive

Im sorry I cant be any more specific but I have not come across this problem before and am a bit stuck.

Its not causing any problems as such as it will go away after a few seconds but I would just like to know WHY!

Any ideas fellas?

Strangely mine has started to do this as well, and at the most inappropriate times!!

I appear to have a slight leak on the PS somewhere and when I checked to night the level was low, but I have to admit that although I've just changed all the pads it does feel very much like a caliper sitcking as it will pull to one side quite forcefully at times, will be looking at it over the weekend so will know more on Sunday
