Silverstone Classic parking for 944 folk

Forgive me for posting here and not on the classic topic but I have read the posts there and seen this question asked repeatedly but not answered. I am hopeing that fellow 944 folk will dvise me.

If I book with the circuit and use the discount code , how do I ( if at all) arrange PCGB infield parking ( hopefully with other front enders). Some of us new folk have no idea how these things work and need a bit of a leg up.

Thanks

Mas

No-one knows, that's why no answer. [:)]

As soon as there is anything to tell I will, but there is plenty of parking available for all the 944 members to be infield. I'd guess that booking in advance will be necessary, just in order to get a pass to allow you through the ridiculously ill-informed Silverstone gate staff on the day [:'(], but don't panic yet.

Yes you can pretty much guarantee that whatever this years arrangements turn out to be the Silverstone stewards will get the wrong end of the stick and cause levels of confusion that couldrange from slight to total ! It is an excellent weekend though and well worth pre-booking as the discount is substantial iirc.

Sorry , are you saying that PCGB have arranged 500 plus or whatever spaces of infield parking but no one knows how you get to use it ? . I'm not booking an event supported by a club only to find I cant park with other club members because I didnt know the secrets of the tomb [;)] , TBH it sounds borderline unbelievable.
I thought I was just being a newb and missing the point. Surely either the circuit issue the parking or PCGB do, someone should know which it is, how did it work last year. With other car clubs I believe you book using the car club code and get a pass to park with the club isn't that the norm ?

Regards Mas

How you get to use it is pretty simply Mas and no secret at all - you stick a sticker in the windscreen and the Silverstone stewards should direct you straight to the gathering point. However sometimes their directions can send you on a magical mystery tour around the circuit. The event isn't organised by PCGB nor any of the many other car clubs that attend so the organising and dissemination of info to the stewards is outside of their control. It all works out though by hook or by crook, have been the last three years and the event gets bigger and better year on year (as do the queues to get in of course).

No, not at all. An event like this is planned over a year, and not every detail is finalised in one go. We get moaned at for not getting info out fast enough, now for releasing details as we get them! [:D][:D]

What we know is that the Silverstone Classic is on the date in question, and we'll be there. Then, we learn more about what's been agreed with the organisers, such as the space we have. We now know what area, and where, we can have our infield event. Now, we plan what we do with the space and organise things like printing passes for members. All of this is done a bit on the hoof, obviously, as everyone involved is also busy with all the other Club matters as well as having what's left of their real lives. Just book the tickets and we'll get you parked somehow. [;)]

Two years ago, we managed to park everyone who'd pre-booked, and most of those who arrived on the day. We also got a fair load of non-members sent to us, stewards being as efficient as ever, but there was plenty of room for them to join us and see what we had to offer. The only two cars turned away were a Ferrari and an Aston, Mr Ives doesn't tolerate interlopers!

Just to add, there are always volunteers needed to help both with the setup of the events and on the day. It's more fun being part of the team than just showing up and parking, as anyone who's helped before will tell you. If you can spare anything from a couple of hours to a few days let us know. [:)]

Nice to be parked with everyone else, dont you think?? Besides, I didn't pre book last year and it was a REAL hike from general parking to the circuit!

If I go this year I will pre book and expect not to be parked miles away.

It's nice to use the area as a base as well as sociable. There will be free coffee in the member's area, with seats and tables, so save a few £s and take a picnic lunch. Shop will be there as well, hopefully selling more sunhats than umbrellas! [&:]

If you see in PP over the last two months the club has space for about 600 cars infield next to the Ferrari mob. There will be no club parking on Woodcote like there has in the past, so everyone is in the middle together.

In the past to enable you to park here you need to pre-book using the order code published in PP. This also gets you a nice discount. I wouldn't have thought it possible to turn up on the day and expect to get to the infield parking as you will need an infield pass to do this.

How the parking is arranged is currently unknown to those apart from the organisers, but that is not so important. The last time the club had a big stand the cars were arranged by register.

Hi Paul,
I have booked using PCGB code for Silverstone Classic- is it PCGB who will issue infield pass
or Classic organisers? I would rather be parked with other 944's to make a base.
Cheers
Ron

I ordered and paid for the tickets a couple of months ago but haven't received them yet. My query is the infield pass, does it come with the tickets from Silverstone, or is it sent from Club office?
Surely at this late stage someone must know what the arrangements are.[:D]

Previous years the passes have come with the tickets via Silverstone, so I would think it will be the same again.
