Steel seal - head gasket repair

Hi all

Has anyone heard of, tried or seen this before?

Sounds too good to be true, but at £30 vs a new head gasket it could be worth a try. I'm pretty cynical though, so just wondered if anyone had tried it and if it's good as the hype?

I don't have a failed head gasket thank god, but was wondering if it might help someone who has. (Then again, I imagine it's a bit different using it on a 944 engine compared to say a 1.1l Peugeot...) Hmm. Thoughts anyone?

Thoughts anyone?

Radweld for head gaskets? I would use it if I were a dishonest person selling a car with a blown head gasket.....if I wanted to replace a head gasket I'd use a head gasket. [8|]

Sure it's great, of course, if they are reading this! [&o]

I suppose it's a bit like tyre weld. I think I would just invest in a spare in the first place. After all the puncture can always be repaired. Unless it's been tyre welded that is!!!! Someone once told me that if looks too good to be true it probably is [:D]

Lets face facts. A head gasket is a consumable item, they are not designed to last forever and are intended to be replaced when failed. I would not want to rely on a product like this. Like previous posts, rad weld does work (as does egg whites as proved by mythbusters) for knackered radiators, but you still end up with a knackered radiator, so you (or someone else) are only delaying the inevitable. There is a difference between an cheap HONEST repair and a cheap repair. No car is free to maintain and £500 for a HG replacement, which is about right for a 944 if nothing else is done, is a reasonable cost - even better if you can afford the time to do it yourself. If that is too expensive for you then maybe you should be asking yourself the more fundamental question "Can I really afford to own and run a 944"? or any other car for that matter as I doubt you'll be able to get a HG replaced for much less. An HG replacement cost for my Focus is comparable to a 944.
