Suspension Bushes

If you have trouble design 911 list a few different options in polyurethane. There's been a fair bit of talk about updating these to the 968 caster mounts but no idea if this is compatible with the steel wishbones or not. Here's the Design 911 page with the wishbones http://www.design911.com/Porsche/944-1982-91/944-2-5L-1982-87/Wishbones/pt385_388_-cma81-cmo123-ct304/

Has anyone got experience of buying wishbone suspension bushes direct from a Porsche dealer for a 1984 944. I need the rear of the two bushes which on my car has an Audi stamp, part no. 477-407-181-A. (it is the one that is held in place by the U clamp to the underbody. My orginal (knackered) part has a metal sleeve and collar and is 'double-ended' if that makes sense??? I have been given a totally different one by my local motor factors which I believe is an early Golf bush and it really doesn't seem to fit right or look to be up to the job.
back to my original question, do Porsche supply the correct part or the lower spec, slightly different Golf variation? They won't get one in so I can look at it first as it is a special order - hence my question.

Any help or suggestions appreciated

Rob

Steel wishbones wont take the 968 mounts, I had the same problems getting the right bits, the Golf one is definatly wrong. I got some polyurethene ones from Porscheshop, cant remember how much but not bad and fit great. Mike

It's disappointing that the diagram at the dealer looks like the Golf part snd they won't order one in for me to take a look. I'm wondering if they have simply stopped making this part snd expect us to use a badly fitting replacement or as an alternative, pay £30 for upgraded poly bushes

Dont bother - if it is has a lump on the top, its the wrong one. It is also "difficult" to remove the old bushs from the wishbone. A wishbone is £40ish the pair, poly bushs £30 and the bottom ball joints £40ish = £110 is to renew the lot - this is what I did. Mike
