tyres

what would you choose out of;

75 - Yokohama C.Drive
106 - Goodyear EAGLE NCT 5
90 - Continental Premium Contact 2
99 - Pirelli P6
107 - Pirelli P6000
86 - Dunlop SP SPORT 9000
73 - toyo cf1 proxies

fwiw the dunlops look the nicest.

the number is the price per corner. tyre is a stupid size (215/60/15), so limits my options (ie i cannot find the directional proxies).

it's for a 944, which is currently rolling on dark horses and power max's. [8D]

i wants grippy but quiet.

nuts;

mine look furry, like a magnet that's been dropped in iron fileings. i take it there knackered and need replaceing? i'm talking about wheelnut as oppose to my testicles. also my locking wheel nuts look rather steel like.

where's the best place to get hex/locking nuts from?

t-belt

i've got a 2.7lux. my local supplyer can only get the belt, and the balancer shaft belt. do i need the balancer shaft belt (isn't that just for 16v?) as i think mine is 8v.

where's the belt place to get a full timing belt kit (ie tensioners too), and a guide on how to do it? autodata shows me two 2.5 engines, and one 3.0 one.

ta. :p

Personally I think 15" wheels really let the look of a 944 down so I'd save my money and buy some 16" wheels with tyres ( and no not the ones I have for sale) , I seriously do think 16 or 17 look so much better and that the 15's just dont look right even if they wee original fit.

If I had the choice Eagles or Conti's but there will be as many opinions as there are 944's [;)]l

Have you tried the suppliers in the faqs? 2.7 is, indeed, an 8-valve engine, but I thought the belts were common to the 2.5 8-valve. Any proper specialist should be able to confirm what you need, companies who service more than one marque from warehouse outlets staffed by sixteen-year-old school dropouts might not be so knowledgeable. If you're asking about where to find a guide on belt tensioning then I'd suggest going to a specialist. It's only needed every four years unless you do mega mileage, and getting it wrong isn't worth the risk. Club members can borrow the proper tools if they want to do it themselves.

I would go for the Contis. I've had loads of them and they've always been a good tyre for me. Yes you need to do both the cambelt and the balance shaft belt. If you want the whole kit I would give max at Frazer Part a call. He should give you a good price. If you want a guide to do the belts and just about everything else on a 944 go to www.clarks-garage.com

Continental Premium Contact 2

I have these on my daily driver, a newish BMW 320D Touring, and they are excellent - both grippy and quiet, with an excellent ride quality, especially in comparison to the woeful runflat tyres that I took off.

Ahh yes I have heard of those BMW run flats. I take it you now don't have to make regular trips to the chiropractor either!!!! I once knew a guy who had a 1 series with a combination of M Sport suspension with run flats. Say no more!!!
