WANTED - Rear luggage cover (split seat type)

You'll be lucky!!
There are a bit like hen's teeth - I almost only bought my car because it had one.
It isn't the greatest bit of engineering in the world - a bit of fabric on a stick with some elasticated hooks on the end. The roller blind is rather better but sadly doesn't fit.

yes I have one.....only found it a few months ago...hens teeth.....on ebay! A navy blue roller blinf type (grey interior though but it'll do for now) Its not for sale for obvious reasons...but cna I be cheely and ask does anyone know how the roller blind type fixes to the fixtures above the rear seats as I dont have the link/bracket/things that hold it on. picture would be appreciated so I can make a copy of sorts.

The roller type is not for the split rear upper seat type mate - these split seat types are even rarer !!

Roller blind type (solid rear seats) and split seats types are completely different. Roller blind ones are pretty common; split seats ones are anything but!

Roller blind ones just screw onto the seat backs.

Oli.

Here`s what mine looked like (a bit sun faded)

A dodgy ally pole with bungay cord each end and a large cloth flap to cover the rear deck and two smaller flaps to cover the rear seats when folded forward.

Useless and pointless and only really designed to keep prying eyes away.

I was always on the look out for a one piece retactable in burgundy but never found one.

I think that's its use and its point!

I have a classic grey one but again it's a bit faded on the upper side. I might get a new one made as the material doesn't seem that easy to dye.

Just a 'Bump' incase anyone has found a nice one for me in the deepest darkest corner of there garage [:D]

Well I cant help but you learn a new thing every day! I never realised split folding seats were an option on the 944. How odd that just a few cars should have this? I would have thought something like that would have been an all or nothing feature for a model.

You need some education i will dish some out at Le Mans !
All the 88 year Turbo S cars had the split rear seats along with some very late run out models this was carried over to the 968 range, unsure if it was an option though, probably if you were willing to part with the dosh.
Had a spare fabric cover in my garage for ages think i e -bayed it ?

I know nothing about this subject as may be obvious from this suggestion, but why not fit a roller blind and just dont split the seats

Cos in split seats you cannot easily fit a roller blind..............its a different system entirely.............believe me I researched this.

Not relevant to your search but yea the roller casing literally is held be a screw either end into the back of the seat (mines not a split tho).

I found out the hard way when on Saturday when I had the seats down boot full of stuff, and the object pressed up against it took a chunk out the plastic hole the screw head sits on! A larger screw and washer behind it (to stop the screw head slipping through the hole) fixed that.

But be careful of the plastic either side that holds the roller in - very easy to snap. Mine already had chunks broken off before I got it, so for now its got black gaffa tape on the end just giving it extra hold and thankfully not that noticable. The last car I had the ends were metal, but eventually wore away and snapped.

So morale of the story - (1) when you're pulling out the cover - do so gently and don't yank it out it'll live longer(!) and (2) with the seats down don't have anything pressed up against it!
