I've got some excellent condition 911 twist wheels that I don't use anymore if you go down this route. They have toyo proxis rrr's on them that are knackered although you probably would get a another trackday out of them but they're not road legal as they have a deep groove worn into rubber. You need to fit 20mm spacers on the rear to get the best look as it fills the rear arches better as the ofset isn't that great. (got these as well if your interested!)

Click on my profile name and then the photo to see them or search '944 turbo / 951 track day car' in you tube if you want to see more pictures (they are the ones in porsche gt3 orange colours not silver)

If you have standard brakes I'd go for a cheap set of 15x7" wheels (or maybe even 6" if they are easier to find) fit 205/50/15 or similar tyres - gives you a bit lower gearing as well.

Bigger wheels add weight & the tyres are much more expensive.

Presumably your car is early offset as well, so cookie cutters may be the easiest to find. Avoid 17" Cup replicas as I believe they will be very heavy in this offset

The early offset cars can be fitted with later wheels but I'd certainly not go for them, the added stresses on the very large spacers that would be required is not good.
I agree with EDH go for some cookies with 205/50 x 15 or even 215/55 x15 on 7 inch rims (standard early 944 and quite cheap)
