Where is this oil coming from?

Have you wiped your finger on it and given it a sniff? Could help you confirm that it's oil.
Only thing I can think of to leak back there are fuel, brake fluid or gearbox oil. Doesn't the turbo have a cooler on the gearbox? Perhaps it's leaking from that.

A separate and unrelated question - my car runs lumpily on part throttle around 2000 rpm, almost as if were on out of tune carbs. Any obvious culprits?
I have the car booked in with a specialist to have this and a couple of other concerns looked at in 10 days or so. It also needs 4 new Tyres and aligment done plus inertia seat belts fitted in the back so it is set to cost me a few quid in the next couple of weeks.

TBH, I wouldn't expect you to wear too much off the tread in a couple of hours. New tyres wear much faster on track as the tread blocks move more & overheat. Silverstone isn't abrasive like concrete airfield surfaces are. ou may well scrub the outer edges of the fronts, but that shouldn't make the tyre illegal to drive on as it's not a large % of the tread.
Anyway, back on topic....

I didn't think these were (legally) necessary? Mine certainly doesn't have them... That said, anyone who rides in the back of mine is large enough to be tucked in pretty neatly & securely behind the front seats anyway!

I need them for my 2 children. Good point about the front seats though!

The wipe and sniff test suggests it is a fuel leak. Does that mean I shouldn't drive the car at all? Even to drive it to the garage? The leak is very slight - no drips on the garage floor.
I drove mine, albeit only a mile or so to the local garage. They replaced the corroded bit with a flexible pipe, still going strong and no problems since. Some people would prefer to go all original, but it's costly.
Obviously I don't want you to disappear in a fireball. But, you've been driving it with the leak so far so I'd just get on with fixing it ASAP.

Promax wrote it accross the receipt that I showed you re the new AFM fitting
re the weep at the fuel line join and I understand Andrew also told you on the phone when you enquired re the condition of my car that it was the only thing to be done he knew of ? so it should be no suprise if its the fuel line.
You are right it isnt even a drip and yes I bought the car like it and drove it ever since without bursting in to flames. It was MOT'd the day before I got it like it as well ( wrongly I suspect now) It is most definately the first job I would do that has not yet been done.
The AFM will not be at fault ! , youre right Promax replaced it.
