Rustproofing

Just wondering what other members use to rust proof the underside of their vehicle now we're getting towards that time of year? My Boxster will be garaged for most of the winter but even so there's no harm in giving it a bit of additional protection from the elements I reckon

I use Dynax, which is supposed to be 'self-healing'. Very easy to apply in aerosol form. Lanoguard also gets good press, although I haven't tried it yet.

Has anyone had it done professionally and if so, any recommendations in the Surrey / Sussex area? Also interested to know what a decent job should cost…

Have a google look for Waxoil dealers.
some will clean your chassis using a proper ramp and coat the underside.
Messy job, so imho worth paying to have done.

I had a good look at thee underside of my 718S when it was on a lift at the OPC.
It seems to me that to apply a meaningful amount of protectant the massive plastic shields and covers would have to come off and the wheel arch liners removed.
Is this level of disturbance really needed?
So much of the front and back are already plastic and so don't need protection.

The areas of concern seem to me to be the A pillar bases where they join the floor, the door bottoms: are they steel or aluminium?.
The sills are another question, but they seem to be plastic covered on the outside.

Interesting point about the level of disturbance. I’m hoping to see my Cayman on an OPC ramp next week and get their opinion about condition and likely benefit of the treatment.

I've used Bilt Hamber Dynax UC before - thats the clear waxy protection film. Comes in a spray can
Also used Dynax UB on an older car, which is the browny black spray. Comes in tin or can. Both pretty good.

Any little bits of rust can be painted over with Bilt Hamber Hydrate 80, which is a rust convertor

I have always used Dinitrol products on my classic MG's.
In my opinion, far better than Waxoyl and certainly less messy.
