Blueprinting

Hi all,
I've just read an article suggesting the 964RS engines were blueprinted. Can somebody enlighten me as to the origins of this? Reason for asking being that Roland Kussmaul has been quoted on a number of occasions saying that the engines were selected from the best 964 engine line but not blueprinted. I've alway regarded Kussmaul as the ultimate authority but is he, or has he been misquoted?
This may seem trivial but its easy for all sorts of myths and legends to evolve - just like to know one way or the other.

Allegedly pistons and connecting rods were weighed to finer matching tolerances
