“Engine Compartment blower failure” warning!

Can anybody offer any advice on this problem?

today, I had this message pop up on my screen as I was driving slowly in traffic. After the initial panic, I could see that the coolant temperature was normal & everything else was at the correct levels. The temperature warning was flashing slowly &, when I was free of traffic, the warning light cleared itself. After I had stopped & parked up, I checked the engine fan & it was working & switched itself after the car cooled down.

I have checked the forum for help & have found the post about engine coolant fans, but I’m unsure what I should be doing with this information. Is my fan faulty or is the problem elsewhere?

2. Engine compartment temperature too high
- light flashes slowly (0.5 Hz) (engine compartment blower might be faulty)

Hi Shane
As you found the fan was working then that proves it’s OK.
It could be a faulty compartment sensor, Check its located correctly as it not unknown for them to become dislodged. It’s located on the RHS between the 1st and 2nd bend on the air intake plenum.
A slow flash also can be low water but you said levels are ok.
It could be just a one off, I would keep any eye on things and if it happens again I would change the sensor.
Good luck
Andy

Thanks for the advice, the sensor wasn’t seated in the rubber grommet & was hanging down onto the engine. I have reattached the sensor into the grommet & hopefully it will be ok now.

cheers for your help Andy.
