02' 996 need advise

Hi Guys, I am new to this forum. Just bought a 02' Carrera. Yesterday I took the car to a shop and they changed the fog light and city and front left, right turn signal for me. Looks very nice. My question is the back turn signal is still remain 'orange color' when its on, is it illegal to have white signal lighters in the back?
I live in CA, Los Angeles area.

Also I notice that the 02' porsche CD Changer can't play MP3 cds. Does anyone of yours have that problem, is there any places that they can convert that? I think the changer is Porsche CDC-3
If it plays mp3 that will be awsome

I heard someone said I can take the car to 'GIAC' for the upgrade. They can flash the ECU and install the intake, it will instantly increase like 60hp? Is that true. I know putting a Supercharger is quite expensive, should I go for these 2 things first? Basically this car is for my wife cause she can't drive stick, this one is tiptronic.

Hope any expert here can help me, cause I am new to own a porsche hehe.

Most of us on this Forum are UK based, so the questions about legality might be trickey. There's a guy called Toolpants who is brilliant at any technical questions though and he is (I think) in California.

It's very unlikely that you'd get a 60 bhp upgrade just from an ECU re-programming and new intake.

Hi ceddy

This is the site for the intake that you mention (actually a newly upgraded version of it). http://www.evoms.com/porsche%20ec%20art%20test.htm

Together with the GIAC chip they only claim a 17BHP increase so I'm not sure where you were quoted 60. Even Porsche's factory power kit with modified heads, cams and intake manifolds only gives +25BHP!

There are several threads on www.renntech,org and www.rennlist.com regarding this intake that may be of help. Best of luck

Clear turn indicators have to have orange bulbs.
You could swap out for the white bulbs from the original orange indicators, but that could cause you to get pulled over.
In any case, they are only orange when you are indicating - and you can't se them then - you're in the driveing seat!
