This morning at 5am my mothers roof was slashed and her bran new road angel navigator (rrp 400!)

The alarm woke my mum

They did one clean slash looks as though they reached in and grabed the unit, its about a foot long (pics to follow)

Thank god they didnt steal it!

Im now just after any advice you guys / girls can give me as to what we should do?

My mum has phoned porsche and they want to come collect the car Monday and take it away, giving her a fiesta courtesy car. The police were phoned at 5am, they came out within 8 minutes. But they have told my mother they will phone her back after 12

Its made us quite scared that someone has done this outside are own house!

Thanks guys, hopefully futer posts will be a bit more pleasent.

The Police have been telling us all for years about keeping stuff out of sight - your incident illustrates why it's good advice.

a friend of mine just had his car broken into - the thieves had noticed the ring mark on the windscreen left by a Tom Tom cradle

Sorry to hear that.

Does a Boxster share a common unit e.g. a PCM screen with add on of SatNav module or is there a different unit - like a conventional radio/CD which is replaced with PCM to allow SatNav module?

Do PCM units likely to get stolen or is it mainly the portable units where there is a ready market to sell into?

The Boxster (987) is identical to the 997 with regard to PCM, Radio/CD etc.

(The 986 Boxster is identical to the corresponding 996 units as well)

On the subject of Satnav/Cameras, you can get a good deal from the ABD's partner company with the discount plus best price deal you can make. Makes paying the subscription worthwhile.
