1 bar boost

At the risk of posting complete trivia:

Following on from one of my earlier posts I mentioned that I thought the X50 option ought to give me a bit more oomph. Using the OBC I watch to see the boost just to make sure I'm getting my moneys worth [;)](mpg, outside temp, trip, range, etc. aren't so interesting).
Anway I though it upped the boost from 0.8 to 0.85 or 0.9 bar, but I got 1.0 bar today. Granted it was for less than a second (2nd gear doesn't last long), but it definitely appeared. I get 0.7 tto 0.8 on a daily basis, although only for a few secs.

Now it is fully run in and running very smoothly, it is fantastic. It still catches me out, and I think "this is fast" - just as well the brakes are up to the job. I haven't yet thought that I need more, but I am sure that will come[;)]. There is also a psychological issue, in that you have nothing to prove, so I don't often try that hard.
What's almost as impressive is that when stuck in a traffic jam (which seems to be in fashion on the M3 at the moment) it pootles along in 1st just as happily.

BTW - 2 litres of oil consumed in 3K miles.
23mpg overall average. Best 25 mpg, worst 15mpg.
Even the police give it admiring glances - as long as you're not taking the p!ss[:)]
Sports seats are great.
I've taken a few Japanese colleagues out in it, and they talk in reverential tones. No more rice-burner comments - Germany has won [:D]. The Porsche image extends as far as Japan.
A friend reckons that the ride is better than the C4S. I can't say I have noticed, but then it is not the thing I am normally concentrating on.
Despite being a 6 figure sum, I guess the best thing I can say so far, is that both I and one of my friends condsider it "value for money". I'm not sure you can say fairer than that.

Stuart
the X5 spec definetly says 1.0 bar is the max boost - I saw this for the first time at Brands when doing a standing start down the home straight (for the Turbo 30th display). On the roads I have never seen more that 0.8 but it seems that so often one runs out of road so quickly the car does not have time to perform!
After 3500 miles my usage stats are almost the same as yours and I, too, get the admiring glances - there is something about the Turbo lines that just make it look stunning.
I had a C4 cab previously and the Turbo (as well as being much quicker) is much smoother in traffic - I never cease to be amazed at the docile nature of the beast until you floor it!
Value for money? I have ordered a 997 Turbo cab so I guess I'm convinced...

All these are admiring glances good job ur both so very handsome............well i think so !

Just to prove the point....

Nice one. Were you accelerating at the time or cruising, since you have the cruise control light on (the green one in the speedo) at 170 mph? Does it work at that speed?

Don't know Steve, but I'm sure it wasn't any worse than the 6.4mpg I got on my last track day in the Turbo.

I read somwhere that at vmax you get about 35 mins on a full tank (not sure where I got that piece ogf trivia). So at 191 this is 111 miles. The tank is officially 64 litres, but is empty at 62 (I tried [;)]), so this gives a tad over 8 mpg at a steady speed.
