Hi Everyone,

I've a Panny Turbo S 550HP in black. Sweet as a nut. I am thinking of replacing my brake pads with "yellow stuff" pads as apart from road I'd like to try some track work and theses pads have superior fade resistance. I'd be interested in knowing if anyone has tried "yellow stuff" themselves and also what the general view is on moving away from the OEM pads please?

On another unrelated issue I'm using about 0.50 of a litre of oil each month. I'm not driving excessively hard. Just normal day to day. I can't find anything in the owners handbook as to what Porsche say is within acceptable limits. Looking at oil usage in the USA and following their forums it seems this is quite normal and in fact the level I'm at is well below what some are using!! I accept it's a finely tuned engine and a small amount of oil usage is to be expected. What do other Panny owners find with their cars?

Hi Tony,

I have also got a Panny Turbo is black and love it to bits. I used approx. 1 liter of oil in a year for around 6,000 miles but only drive the car 1 to 2 times a week. I thing it tends to burn oil when starting from cold which may explain my light usage. I was told by AFN to expect high oil usage so yours sounds normal. I have been on track days with the standard OEM pads and the steering lets you know when the discs are getting to hot.

I would also be interested in feedback on yellow stuff pads.

Tony,

If your car is still under factory or Porsche extended warranty, you may find that fitting anything other than OEM pads could be a problem.

Best to check with your PC before proceeding.

If you're talking about EBC yellowstuff - I wouldn't bother. If, on the other hand, you're talking about Pagid RS29 then that's another story - wonderful pads. Expensive but worth every penny. Of course, I'm talking about a 997 turbo but I think the same would apply to a Panny.

And I have had them fitted for nearly 3 years and no warranty issue.

timely post !
I might be on a track day in my panny on saturday
Agree with the RS29 comment - had them in a GT3 and was very good
then went Perfomance friction discs / bells / pads all round - now that WAS good !
looking at new front pads for mine soon i guess
