Hi folks

I have to replace the clutch master cylinder on my 1985 944 lux, I have spoken to porsche uk and they gave me a completly different part number then the one in it.

Can anybody give me advice on the correct part number I need.

It is a 1985 pre-oval dash model.

Thanks

Porsche supercede parts if later ones fit and then the number is different. The parts guy should really point this out if the number is different, but it's entirely possible he didn't.

Cheers guys, I spoke with Bert and he got me sorted :), but now I have another problem, the car I have just bought has been sat for about 18 months and although it started first turn of the key, the lights dont want to pop up, i am sure its something simple like fuses or the like but I was wondering if there is a manual over ride for flipping them up like on other cars ? Although I have had 944's in the past, I have never encountered this problem before.

Yes, there is (assuming the early cars are the same...). If you pull the rubber cover off the motor there is a black knob you can turn to crank the lights up and down. I'd recommend taking the fuse out before you do so as if the system decides to work it will scare the poop out of you by "grabbing" the lights from you and lowering them quite forcefully. Also as a general rule be very careful doing anything in that area when the lights might move and the motor is pretty powerful and there are opportunities for trapped if not amputated fingers.

Thanks Fen lol i have a thing for cars with pop up lights and know all to well about the scary poop moments :) Just one other thing though, where does the motor hide on these things ?

It points backward and up from the bottom left just in front of the PAS fluid reservoir:

Check the power connection on the motor. Mine popped off the other day causing the lights to fail. Stu

Check that the fuse has not been removed or is blown I believe that when changing the bulbs it is recommended that the Fuse is removed, although that is usually in the up position so probably not that. It could be a loose connection in the wiring somewhere or a bad earth. If it's been sat around for a while dirt could have collected somewhere and preventing circuit somehow. Also are you aware that you've spelled Jamiroquai wrong no offence or anything I'm just very sad to have noticed that. I'm also sad enough to have every album of theirs on my iPhone.

I agree it is quite clever indeed and I was not even aware of any tribute bands for Jamiroquai until I saw that a truly great idea really.
