Hi there,

Did a trackday a couple of days ago and in the noise test, got 104db - was allowed to join and participate but got me wondering - my 911 turbo is 100% stock, pristine condition, anything to worry about this exhaust noise ? symptoms of anything to come ? Since I've read that stock turbos should be doing 98-99db... Test at 5000rpm

I was once told that DB tests can be as much about wind and tyre noise and not just the exhaust.

If you have a standard exhaust and the static test read 104 to 105 I would suggest there is something wrong with it. The 996 is known to be quieter than the 993 turbo, and my modified (430bhp) example never reads more than 101 to 102.

Something wrong with meter if your exhaust is not faulty as my 996 turbo with miltek register 99db at 4500 rpm. checked recently at Brands, Silverstone and Bedford. I think you are going to rolling road day this Saturday? If so can check with my sound meter.
