http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/list.asp?s=126 Things must be bad!! when have you ever heard of a OPC giving discount of 10K

These are among the last of the pre-facelift Boxsters - if they didn't discount now, they just wouldn't sell. The new ones will start ariving in dealers as we get into March.

Very interested in the new ones but unless I can get the £10k discount minimum I'm out [&o]

You'd have to see how well the early sales went. Perhaps after six months, they might have to discount the new ones too. But to start with, I very much doubt you'd get a "discount" unless you were trading in at the same time.

There are a mountain of unsold Gen 11 911's in the system as well as in the compounds

Porsche are in exactly the same boat as Aston Martin: BMW: Ferrari: Lamborgini: Mercedes: to name just a few ... All now working short time if working at all and there is no end game insight during 2009

So unless Porsche are prepared to cut production massively and produce to official orders only they will have no choice but to discount heavily to keep the production wheels rotating.

One OPC is offering 30K off list price on a brand new registered Gen1 997 Cab so a Gen 11 should be good for 15-20k off the list even if it has to be dealer registered first.

This happened back in 1990's in a far less serious recession my brother bought a stock 911 with a massive £20k discount once it had been pre registered in dealers name. Looks like history is about to repeat itself again []
