Just had the call from OPC to say the car is sorted and they will be dropping her off tomorrow. They have sorted the mark they left on the bonnet last summer and removed the paint that was left on the dash. They have also sorted the bubbling around the black frames of the door windows.

While she was in I had Autoglass install a new front windscreen under OPC supervision and the teflon tape put around the seals to stop corrosion and squeaking. The windscreen was replaced last summer but it was squeaking and I discovered in the winter it leaked (common). I removed the rear view mirror from the ball joint to clean behind it and when carefully pushing it back on the jolt as it clicked on was enough to crack the screen. So now the new screen.

So next itsoff to JZ for the brake discs all round and rear shocks.

Then she will have everything done - a small fortune spent and some lucky punter will drive away with her if the price is met at some point in the next 12 months.

In the last 12 months :

New rear spoiler curtain / rebuilt sunroof wind deflector / new front shocks and mounts / refurbed 18" Hollow Spoke Turbos / Front respray / new clutch / new tyres / new Becker MP3 unit / 4 wheel geo alignment / new windscreen / RSB mufflers fitted with new heat shields / all the services etc / had the (common) front scuttle pannel corrosion sorted under warranty / bubbling around the windows black part sorted (common).


I hope the work is up to scratch this time ....will see tomorrow.

 
I'm sure this sounds like a daft question, but where abouts is the "front scuttle panel"? (and in particular, where does the corrosion commonly occur?)

I'm going to have a look to see if there's any corrosion on mine!

Quick edit to say I sussed where it is from another thread - the panel just below the windscreen!

I have a similar car with bubbling around the window blacks.
Who fixed it for you, how much, and was it a good job?

I've just had the scuttle panel corrosion done. It seems OK for now but I await severe rain testing. There were a load of minor irritations from the OPC bodyshop, some still to be resolved.

Where did you get your wheels refurbished? Mine will need doing when tyres are due but the OPC bodyshop only want to do the faces. I want the full monty.

Finally, it sounds like a joy now. So, why sell ?

I got my front wheels refurbished (all over) at Paragon and am pleased with the results. (There was some flaking around the valve stems and other more minor blemishes.)
 
So I am very happy with all the work.

The black around the door windows was blown in by OPC Cambridge and looks great/normal. Cost for both doors in total was about £100 +vat.

Windscreen does not creak and they fixed the errors they left.

I used wicked wheels for the refurb last summer but I would not again. There were runs and overspray on my brake calipers. They had to come back and do them again.

Reason for future sale will be because I am moving to the States in 12 months so will buy one over there.....

You mentioned the black around the door windows which you had blown in. Is this like a black border of paint around the glass that extends under the seal? I'm not that familiar with 993's (although i've got my eye on one for my next Porsche in a few years) but have a problem with my 944 glass tailgate that has a black painted border around the frame that is starting to crack and leak and wondered if this paint blowing process might be suitable for this application also.

Hi, it is actually the black part of door that the window slides in ( the upper part ). Not the strip under the seal.

I had the same problem with my 924 many year ago, Autoglass used some black sealant around the edge of the frame (on the inside from what I remember) and all was sorted. I didn't have any more problems and it certainly stopped the back seat from getting wet!
