Just a not to raise the point that there is a National Register Day at Upton House, Banbury on 13th September a date for your diary[:D][:D]

Trevor, For a little more info on just what a register day is, we have register parking where in our case the Caymans will have a parking area of our own, Boxsters likewise etc, there are various companies which may also have their own displays and the public can walk around, the interested parties asking about the cars, some may ask about the club etc. I did miss last years due to a holiday but was at the one in 2012 at Calke Abbey. Banbury is a good location for such an event as it's just off the M40 and so easy to get to for many members.

Some more detail on Upton House, it is a National Trust Property ( see the link below) Apparently Narinder is taking names at Club Office but I'm sure that many will turn up on the day as we often do. Hi Kevan I will be at this event in my Porsche Cayman S and have entered my car in the Show and Shine Section. All the best & I look forward to attending this event as I look forward to meeting with yourself Kevan. Yours sincerely Kevin. Ps I'm added something extra to my Cayman to make it stand out as its not seen much on Porsche cars.

Something extra? You mean that those red wheels and detailing aren't sufficient Kevin..? Planning to be there with you all. Jeff

Apparently we are supposed to register in advance that we are attending the event with Narinder at Club Office (01608 652911), this can be done by phone or email and the name of the event is Register Rendezvous.

...but I'm sure that many will turn up on the day as we often do...
The reason for informing Narinder you’re coming is so she can make sure there’s sufficient space (it’s not infinite[8|]) for your car - the organiser needs to know numbers, otherwise many will complain if they ‘just turn up’ and can’t be accommodated - makes sense? All makes for a more flowing day for everyone[;)]

All So how were we supposed to know we had to register, was somebody going to tell us at some point. Just having a moan Trevor

Look at your Porsche Post/ ask the Club Office/ use some initiative?[8|] i.e. if in doubt, ask Club Events for further details...

ORIGINAL: pse_SC Look at your Porsche Post............
And when you've read the article in the September edition you will know to let Ken Coad know by email that you'll be attending. However, it says nothing about also telling anyone at Cornbury House and doesn't even say to tell Ken which model (of Porsche!) you will attend with. No second guessing should be required. It seems that we need more consistency on issuing instructions when publicising events to avoid such confusion and frustration as is highlighted earlier in this thread. David

Agreed[:)]..., but
if in doubt, ask Club Events for further details...
That’s what they’re there for[;)]... just trying to help.

This event at Upton House was notified in a loose paper insert in the June edition of Porsche Post but when I called Narinder as per the instructions she said it wasn't a national event anyway I gave her my details which she said would be passed to the organiser for that geographical region. Reading various forum threads since then, it seemed to me that there was no overall co-ordination as the event was being notified in various registers and in the regions in such way that it looked like whichever thread you happened to be reading made out they were organising it for themselves. On Sunday I met a 996 owner at the Tetbury Classic Car Show who is going to the event and he said that we have to bring a drip tray as without one will not be allowed to park on the grass. So which register thread does one have to search in order to find that piece of information? I reckon more cars than available space will arrive on Saturday.

I've heard nothing of the drip tray and certainly won't take one nor of notifying Ken although I did say to him that I intended to be there when we spoke at the last AGM which was months ago, I since sent word to Narinder and must regretably admit that I rarely read the magazine in detail. Otherwise I hear of such things through the regional officers or emails and the forum from club officers. From this thread it would seem that some like to read the magazine for their information while others use the forum, I do know that one proposal is to have the magazine on line and I will raise the point to the people working on the new website that the forum would benefit from an events section, not principally for race events and track days but more of a social events section across the regions and registers.

So for some reason Upton House need a drip tray, apparently a bit of plastic or cardboard will do, first time I've heard of such a thing.

Hi all - just to say, thoroughly enjoyed the rendezvous at Upton today and it was great to meet Kevan and some of my other fellow Cayman owners - and to meet Jeff again who we met at the Calke Abbey event a couple of years back. Great to see so many nice cars at such a fantastic venue on a beautiful day. Thanks to everyone who organised the event. Looking forward to the next one. Cheers, Richard (Grey Cayman gen2)
