16,500 from a set of rears

Got new set of rears yesterday after 16,500 miles on the old set. They were Mich PS2's - is that normal life expectancy or a record? I was well impressed.

Also, a thumbs up to Elite Tyres of Rainham, who had new ones in stock at 166.69 each incl VAT, balance & fit (255/40/17 PS2 N3's).

Not unusual - Michelins will always do at least 10% more than the likes of Pirellis, Correct geometry and lots of motorway use should see 16k or more.

C for effort, you are not trying hard enough, see me after class! ;)

Now to improve from 'C' are you expecting more or less mileage from a set of tyres ??

You need to ask? See me after class too! :)

That's a remarkably high mileage for rears or even fronts

In my C2 I managed to get 35K from my fronts but go through a set of rears in about 9K

Before I changed them the fronts were just down to the legal limit and 5 years old so to be honest I probably should have changed them sooner as I was getting quite a bit of under-steer when pushing on ;-). A new set all round improved things no end.

(They all were 18" PS2 N1 now N3)

Trying as hard as I can, sir, but I don't have a GT3 (yet)...

lol you still undecided between a 996 and a 997?
If we meet up you can have a go in mine to help you decide.

Yes - still undecided between 996 GT3 or 997 C2 - thanks for the offer. [In an ideal world a 997 GT3 would be nice, though]. Its probably 6 months to a year away financially, but no harm thinking. Shame, though, as I saw a lovely yellow GT3 comfort for sale on PH 36K recently that fitted my spec nicely (not that there is much I need spec wise apart from wanting A/C, no sunroof and NOT buckets).

Can I still be on the originals? I bought the car at 9K mileage and still have the original Michelins, mileage is now 21K this includes 4 track days and 5 laps of the Nurgburgring![8D]
